Assignments for Friday, 10/21
Discrete Math:
Today we learned about Amortized Loans, like those one would get from a bank to buy a car or home. The assignment is 11-5: 1, 11, 5, 13, 17-18.
On Monday, students will be receiving a project that requires them, based on an annual salary, to buy a house and a car using amortized loans. They will also be receiving a take home quiz. The remaining days till the mid-semester exam will be flex days for all students. Deliverables prior to the exam will include completion of the take-home quiz, completion of the project, completion of an on-line test, and review for the exam. I am also attempting to schedule a speaker to come in and discuss savings and investments. When I know that date, I will communicate it everyone.
I'd also like to express my concern that students are not investing the amount of time and effort it takes to be successful in this class. Even though the next two weeks are flex attendance, it doesn't mean there is no work to do. Students should expect that the assignments will take quite a bit of time and effort to complete well.
Algebra II:
Today was a work matrix work day and an opportunity for students to take charge of their own learning. Students did a 4-question quiz prep, corrected yesterday's assignment, and worked on today's assignment 4-2:1, 5-11 odds, 12-17, 21, 23, 26, 29, 31-40, 44.
