Summary of the Week, 10/8-12/2012
Let me begin with an apology for my dearth of blogging this week. Advising the Juniors and Freshman classes for Homecoming totally killed me, what with building and tearing down two floats. But, Homecoming is over and we're all back at it!
Fun Pens help make math MORE FUN!
Algebra II:
Students finished their study of chapter two covering linear and absolute value equations. The Chapter 2 test is scheduled for Tuesday. Those students wishing extra credit may take a practice test and e-mail it to me (or print and turn it in) before the test.

Students also took their first ACT practice test this week. The objective was to give everyone a first glimpse of what the test is like: designed not to be finished with easy questions first and getting harder through the end, requiring lots of concentration and mental effort, requiring recall of geometry and other math from years past, etc. Now that students know what to expect, we'll be working on test-taking techniques and refreshing of past-learned-math-knowledge.
Statistics:
Students finished their study of chapter two covering sampling and surveys. The Chapter 2 test is scheduled for Tuesday. Students also created and administered a sample survey. A summary report detailing their process and results is due Tuesday.
