Assignments for Friday, 1/27

Statistics:
Today we did a nice quiz review then took a quiz on the topic of data acquisition using Observations, Surveys, Experiments and Census. 
Monday (1/30) is a Flex-Attendance day for those students who have turned in a completed form.
Monday's assignment is:
--> Read pg. 24-34
--> Do pg. 27: 1.25-1.27;   pg. 33: 1.29-1.33

Algebra II:
Today we took a practice ACT test (here's the answer key if you're interested).  The objective is for students to get exposure to the test, testing conditions, and what type of topics are on the test.  Many students discovered they had forgotton a lot of geometry.  We will be reviewing those topics that students feel they need, like geometry.  We also had a homework check: 8-1, 8-2, 8:1-2 review packet, and 8-3.

Assignments for Thursday, 1/26

Statistics:
Today we read an article from the Huffington post and used our new knowledge of Statistics to analyze the article.  To prepare for the quiz tomorrow, read the summary on pg. 20 and do 1.18 (skip c)-1.23.  Additionally, be prepared to answer these questions for various scenarios.

Algebra II:
We began our study of logarithms today.
The assignment is 8-3: 4-32 evens.
Following the lessons, students took a quiz on exponential functions.
Tomorrow (Friday) we will be taking a practice ACT test. 
I will be checking this week's assignments while students are taking the test.

Statistics:
Our first topic of study asks/answers the questions "How do we get good data?" and "Where does good data come from?"  This class is a blended learning / flexible attendance class.  Please turn in your signed forms by Friday.  We'll begin "flexing" and doing on-line assignments next week.
Mon: Read pg. 1-7, Do pg. 7: 1.1-1.4
Tue: Snow Day
Wed: Read pg. 8-17, Do pg. 12: 1.7-1.9; Do pg. 17-18:1.12-1.16

Algebra II:
The new semester begins with the study of Exponential Functions.
Mon: Modeling Data with Exponential Equations
         8-1: 1-9 odds, 16-22 evens, 26-29, 32, 35-41, 43; pg 438: 1-4
Tue: Translating Exponential Functions   
         8-2: 9-14 (describe translation), 15-17, 24-26, 30, 32, 34, 37 (use calculator), 40-41

Thu: Quiz over 8:1-2
Fri: Our first practice ACT test

Students learned how to apply the properties of a normal distribution and z-scores to a set of data.

Today's class was devoted to answering questions and completing yesterday's test on polynomials.

Discrete Math:
Today we applied what we have learned so far about descriptive statistics by analyzing two scenarios:
For both scenarios, students analyzed the data, drew a conclusion, and explained their result.  Work was turned in at the end of class.

Algebra II:
